​Many of us are staying at home and practicing social distancing during the coronavirus pandemic but what can we do while staying at home?

​Is it Christmas in February? No, but I couldn’t post any photos of my Wellness Retreat for the 2019 Atlanta Holiday Home until Atlanta Homes and Lifestyles published their February issue featuring all of the rooms. I just happened to photograph my room after it was decorated for the holidays. If you pick up the current February issue you will see a spa retreat completely void of Christmas decor.

When you think of a lake style living does modern pop into your head first? Or log cabin/lodge style?

We love renovating older homes and bringing them up to date. This mid century modern home was extremely outdated but our clients loved the character of the house and wanted all modern updates.
This vacation home was designed using our Online Interior design services.
We worked with our clients, their architect, and their contractors in California all while staying in Atlanta.
Our job for the project was to design the modern kitchen and specify the fixtures and furnishings for the project.
We had weekly meetings via Zoom, FaceTime, and multiple emails during the six month project.

We opened up the space to incorporate the living area with the kitchen.
As you can see we didn't add any window treatments because our clients are paying for the view and the large expanse of windows brings the outdoors into this home.
Nature is very soothing and has healing properties to relieve everyday stress. This home is a place the homeowners can come to decompress and relax.
When we designed this house we didn't want to fill up this vacation home with lots of accessories because the lake was the focal point.

Since this was a vacation home where many friends and family gather with the homeowners, we needed lots of seating in the public areas. The large waterfall quartz island in the kitchen overlooks the open concept dining and living room.
With minimalist cabinetry, neutral color palettes, and metallic accents, this contemporary kitchen has a subtle elegance that will never go out of style.

Easter is just around the corner and I am getting ready to entertain my family for Easter and to celebrate our granddaughter's first birthday. I love decorating my tables when I entertain don't you? Today I am sharing my Easter table settings and my Italian Easter menu that I hope you will enjoy!

I am actually using the centerpiece from my Serenbe designer showhouse from last fall. Even though the orchid blooms have dropped it was a perfect centerpiece to create a woodlands tablescape. ( I have a green designer’s thumb and love seeing my orchids bloom over and over again! You will see more of my designer showhouse room in the May issue of Atlanta homes & Lifestyles!)

The outfit that I'm wearing was gifted to me from Chico's Off the Rack. I am often asked to do collaborations  with brands whose audience is midlife women. I am fortunate to work with companies that align with my audience.

My friends, with the holiday season in full swing and winter weather knocking at our door, this can be a very stressful time of year with all the ho ho ho’s added on top of your everyday stress. Do you have a perfect relaxation space in your home? ​

The holiday season is in full swing and I've created an easy holiday party to keep you stress free if you entertain during the holidays.

I love this time of year when the air is cooler, the leaves are turning crimson and gold, and the weekends are filled with football games. I also love to decorate my home with Halloween and fall decor I have kept throughout the years.

I love hosting parties where the entertainment is a television. Simply an easy way to entertain a crowd. We love hosting football parties because it's really about football watching, cocktails, hot dogs, hamburgers, and lots of appetizers. Everyone pitches in and brings appetizers to the party. We supply the rest.
Grills are fired up and tubs of beer and wine are set up outside by the grills while the men amuse themselves before the kickoff. Football is all about finger food and yelling at the television.

 Go to your local party store for most of your football decor and add fall flowers and decorations.

If your weather permits, add a beverage station outside next to the grilling area.

When hosting a football party, make it easy on yourself with store bought appetizers, simple recipes, and just enjoy the game! Okay it's halftime and I have to get the main dinner set up! I hope to see you again soon when I share more entertaining ideas and tabletop decor!

As an interior designer I am often asked to design outdoor living areas for my clients and one thing I always recomend is purchasing shatter proof  glasses and dinnerware to prevent broken glass outside.
I was recently asked by Chico's  to introduce to you their newest line, the Home and Gift Collection. This is a sponsored post.

I love to entertain in the summer by our pool and this was a perfect time for Chico's to launch their latest collection. We are hosting an outdoor dinner party and the melamine plates andbowls are perfect to use outdoors. I selected theindigo dinner napkins and the pineapple salad tongs to use for this party.

Entertaining outdoors is fun and stress free if you plan your meal to be done on the grill and your side dishes are served cold. The last thing you want to be doing is cooking inside while your quests are outside enjoying the pool or relaxing on your terrace with a lovely summer cocktail.

Tonight's menu is a very simple one of kabobs, a healthy green salad, and a no bake peach blueberry trifle. All the prep work is done ahead of time so that I can enjoy the good conversations going around the table.

Blueberries are in season and so good for you to eat. My salad and the dessert will have blueberries as the main ingredient.

One of the benefits of being an Atlanta interior designer is having clients with second homes within driving distance from the city. Atlanta is a 5 hour drive to the Atlantic  ocean, the Florida Gulf coast, the mountains, and it's really a preference on how my clients spend their time away from the city. I recently completed an oceanfront condo renovation in Hilton Head, South Carolina.

I love spending time in Hilton head and I was ready to update a condo with 90's bathrooms.
This is a 3 bedroom 3 bath oceanfront condo in the Palmetto Dunes area of Hilton Head. It is rented out when the homeowners are not using it so I needed to update taking in consideration that renters are not as considerate of interiors as my clients are. Everything needed to stand up to heavy use.
I wanted to remove the faux paint and 90's wallpaper that was throughout the condo and focus on a beach style decor.

The kitchen only needed a fresh coat of paint.

The dining area is the first area of the condo when you enter this open floor plan.

The Master Bathroom-Before
Wallpaper was the only thing that needed to go in this bathroom! The oversized jacuzzi in the corner has seen better days. I also believe in a private toilet area in master bathrooms. If you have a large bathroom, enclose the toilet area!

Master Bathroom- After​

My objective was to close off the toilet area, remove the corner tub and design a deep walk in shower with a low threshold  and no glass. I wanted the master shower to be enjoyed by all ages with the least restriction. 

The double vanity has a Cambria quartz countertop called Praa Sands which continued the beach theme in the bathroom. The large porcelain tile was selected for the shower and floors for easy maintenance and heavy use. 
The linear glass and stone tile was used as the accent tile in the shower and to surround the mirror.
​I selected a shaved unpolished pebble stone for the shower floor.

The second master bedroom had a small bathroom that you can see was very outdated and I removed the tub/shower and made the bathroom larger by installing a frameless glass shower. 

We removed the tub/shower combination and put in a frameless glass wall (No door.) Because we glass is stationary, the shower was by the glass wall and the shower handle on the opposite wall for easy access to turn on the shower. No wet head when turning on the shower!
Yes, the wallpaper was removed and a new vanity with a quartz top was installed.
I should mention both toilets are comfort height .

This area of the condo will be redone at a later date, but it's important to keep a tub in a home so this dated bathroom will wait. I wanted to show you what the tub looked like that I removed from the guest bathroom. 1996 ivory fiberglass tub that has a very high apron. 

When updating a second home that may be used as a rental, always update the bathrooms and kitchen to increase your rental price. The furniture in this condo is all mid range in price point. Once the homeowners stop renting they will update the living room area but for now it works for them and the renters.
Fabrics should be water and mildew resistant and be able to withstand wear and tear.
