Favorite Finds for Beach Living Designs

I love working with different design styles and searching for the perfect pieces that go with a particular design aesthetic. Today I want to share with you my favorite finds for a current design project in Hilton Head.

I am updating a 3 bedroom condo and searching for the perfect pieces that will create a wonderful beach retreat.
I want this home to have a casual and welcoming atmosphere about it for the homeowner and the guests who visit on Hilton head.

 Accessories

Nothing is more fun for me as an interior designer than to accessorize interiors.
A room can be furnished, but it's not finished if you don't accessorize it.
​ I absolutely believe accessories are the jewelry of a home. Art on the walls, accent pieces, and lamps are often forgotten in homes I see when meeting with new clients. They wonder why they don't like a room, it's because it's naked!

You can never have too many lanterns in a home. Play it safe and purchase only the battery operated candles. Even for metal lanterns or hurricane lanterns.

Lots of organic material is essential in all of my designs and these driftwood table lamps from Currey and Company will look wonderful  in the condo.

Living room

Because the living room will get a lot of abuse from wet swimsuits, sand, and the family dog, I will be looking for indoor/outdoor fabrics or fabrics that are water repellant, stain, and mildew resistant.
​If you wanted to, you can also use outdoor furniture for a beach home because they sell only outdoor fabric with their furniture pieces, solving your design issues with looking for outdoor fabric! But please make your selection look like it belong on the inside not like it belongs on your patio!

I really like using the Coastal Living Resort collection from Stanley. I tend to purchase a lot from Stanley because they have good pricing and good value, which my clients enjoy. 

Most of the fabric companies I work a lot with carry indoor/outdoor fabrics. The fabrics are so stylish and have a softer feel, but they are also water resistant and have a stain repellant finish. I will do light fabrics as long as they have those qualities. 

Bedrooms

I am so excited that I will be making over 3 bedrooms and giving each room it's own personality. So many great choices are available to me and I don't have to custom design the bedding. It's already done for me!
